My inspiration

Have you ever had one of those teachers that helps you in so many ways, that pushes you to be your best, that inspires you beyond anything a book could tell you? I had a teacher exactly like that this year, and the year ended today. That teacher is retiring, too. Let me tell you a little bit about this amazing teacher, Mrs. McReilly, my teacher who sings.

This year, I switched to a new school at the beginning of the year. The going was pretty rough. Mean kids, large halls, strict workload. However, there was one class that I was really looking forward to. Choir. Now, people say I have a good voice, but I really only do choir because I love to sing. I hate my voice, but that's beside the point. Now Mrs. McReilly welcomed all of us with a huge grin and a "So you like singing?" And that's when she became my favorite teacher.

So I just wanted to say thank you sooooo much to Mrs. McReilly and for all that she's done for me.

Love, Eleanor

Summer of my German soldier

I'm reading a great book right now! It's called "Summer of My German Soldier", and Cami and Ewok might remember that we read this in Language Arts class earlier this year.

It's really sad, because in the end... Not telling! But I read what happens on Wikapedia, and it's awful!

It was first published in 1973, and it's by Bette Greene.

In the book, 12-year-old Jewish girl Patty realizes her true feelings for Anton, a 22-year-old Nazi soldier.

Fun with household objects (among other things)

  • Earlier today, my little sister Georgette discovered the fun of earplugs. She put them in and took them out, only stopping when her ears finally started hurting.
  • I went to the library today and checked out one thousand GAZILLION books and haven't even started reading them yet.
  • School ends on Tuesday!!! Last day until August=happy Eleanor!
  • I've rediscovered Pandora radio... Meaning it's been a pop music-filled day! (In case you're wondering, osumone, I mean Brittany Spears, Usher, Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, Neon Trees, Avril Lavigne, and Bruno Mars. Not BVB, but not The Beatles, either!)
  • I remembered how much I hate most Brittany Spears, Usher, Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, Neon Trees, Avril Lavigne, and Bruno Mars. LOL!
  • I cleaned the basement cuz family's coming over tomorrow... Fun!!!!! :)
  • It's REALLY COLD! And blankets don't help! Must find Texas sweatshirt...!
  • Georgette, Ben, and I watched Disney Channel's "Starstruck" just now, and I must say that Sterling Knight isn't exactly ugly.
  • Tip for readers: If you're bored, pick up a pen and click it repeatedly. It works.

Dear Maggie-

Hi, sweetie pie. How are you? Heaven treating you okay? How's Ranger?

I really miss you, and now I have a question for you. Are you okay if we get another cat? We'd name her "Eleanor Rigby", and call her Ellie. She wouldn't look like you, because we're not trying to replace you. I don't want to hurt your feelings or make it seem that we don't love and miss you every second of every day, because we do.

Try and answer, okay? An appearance in a dream would work fine.

Love you bunches!!!!!

Eleanor

Just Thought You Might Like To Know...

The end of the world approaches us.

Yes, friends, family, neighbors, and that hobo named Hollywood from iCarly, the apocalypse is today, May 21, 2011, at 6 pm. So, my good comrades, we have approximately one hour and 24 minutes to live. See you in the better life, everyone!

Oh yes, and please don your Beatles tee shirts. Best to go out in style!

Eleanor.

(Yes, I'm changing my name cuz Gertrude works better as a middle name. In my opinion. Feel free to still call me that, but I'll now sign all of my work as Eleanor.

Forgot. Won't have any more work. Apocalypse. Right.

Well then, peace, and happy death!)

Dilema

Okay, so my mom really likes the violin, and wants me to take lessons again. I, however, wish to play guitar. My mom then offered this up. "You play violin again and I'll let you play guitar!" Great. Now I'm stuck. My friend Alex was here earlier this afternoon and I asked him this question. His response? "Dude! Why ask? Play both, duh!!!" Geez, thanks Alex. I really want to play guitar but I hated and still hate violin. Help me!!!

Challenge

Okay. For those of you who know me, I like this one guy. And he doesn't like me back. So my "Worst of Me" song is "Yesterday", by The Beatles. Either that or "Hey Stephen", by Taylor Swift, or "Bargain", by The Who.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGQgd2PT4mw
that's yesterday.

But my "Best of Me" song is obviously for when I'm happy, loopy, groovy, drunk, or whatever you call it when you're hanging out with a bunch of your best friends and you're hopped up on sugar and caught up in having a good time. It's called "Got to Get You Into My Life", and it's by The Beatles. '

And that's got to get you.

LOVE YOU PAUL!

Why Paul and I Have a Love/Hate Relationship

As y'all know, I love Paul McCartney. A lot. But I'm going to tell you why our relationship fluctuates.

Paul is always getting me into trouble. Kids at school run rampant with the idea that my favorite singer is over the age of 30. They also don't appreciate his talent, and say that he writes "old people" music. It's words like that that make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! Not.

And to further illustrate my point, whenever I hear his music in public, I gasp and start humming, and then get reprimanded.

Oh, yeah. There's also the fact that I'm never gonna meet him.

Geez, Paul. They tell girls to stay away from abusive boys. You're abusing me, and you don't even know I exist!!!

Oh, Paul McCartney. The world would suck without you, but I also might have more than 10 friends if you weren't here. (Just kidding. I have the best friends in the world.)

Gertie

Oh. My. GOSH!

I'm kind of in shock, so please just follow the link and don't expect me to talk.

He Loves You

He loves you yeah yeah yeah,
he loves you yeah yeah yeah,
he loves you yeah, yeah, yeah, yeeeeaaah.
You think you've lost your love, when I saw him yesterday,
it's you he's thinking of,
and he told me what to say.
He said he loves you,
and you know that can't be bad,
Yeah he loves you,
and you know you should be glad!
He said you hurt him so,
he almost lost his mind,
now he says he knows,
you're not the hurting kind.
He said he loves you,
and you know that can't be bad,
yeah he loves you,
and you know you should be glad, OOOOOOOOOOOO!
He loves you yeah yeah yeah,
he loves you yeah yeah yeah,
with a love like that, you know you should be glad.
You know it's up to you,
I think it's only fair,
pride can hurt you too,
apologize to him.
Because he loves you,
and you know that can't be bad,
he loves you,
and you know you should be glad, OOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
He loves you yeah yeah yeah,
he loves you yeah yeah yeah,
with a love like that,
you know you should be glad,
with a love like that,
you know you should be glad!
With a love like that, you know you should....
BE GLAD!
Yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeeeeeeeeaaaaah!

Epic Fun with My Dad

My neighbors really like The Who. I mean, it's a total, family-wide obsession. Sorta like me and The Beatles, except that the adults in this family are obsessed, too.  So when my dad and I went shopping yesterday, we decided to have a little fun.

We got in the car, and our destination was the local grocery store, for a pineapple and some chocolate chips. I plugged my iPhone into the speaker and turned on the song "Magic Bus". As we passed our Who-loving neighbor's house, Mr. Neighbor-man came outside to mow the lawn. I motioned to my dad to turn up the music, and he did just that, and he turned into their cul-de-sac! The music was so loud, my seat was vibrating, and Pete Townshend's guitar was amazing.

We drove past their house once, and Mr. Neighbor-man looked up, smiled, and waved. Not knowing if he'd actually heard the music over the roar of the lawn mower, Dad and I circled the cul-de-sac once and when we drove past the house again, we turned the music up even louder.

That got Mr. Neighbor-man's attention! This time, he gave us a thumbs-up and grinned.

I texted my friend, Mr. Neighbor-man Jr., and asked him to ask his dad if he heard what we'd been listening to. Jr. replied with a "Rock on!!!"

Fun times, fun times.
